Interim Week, Day 1

We didn't make it to the ball games, nor to church on Sunday. I continued to feel fairly exhausted, just didn't have the energy. But I did have a hot dog, two in fact. On one of our outings, sent Emily into Chief for wieners. Don't you know she came out with $4 a pound all beef? Hardly the kind of thing you put ball park mustard on!

My sense of taste is slowly returning--except for salty. And you know how I love salty. Sure cancels out the Mcfries. We did have our Sunday dinner at Wendys and granddaughter, Kris, joined us. Managed to eat a single, everything, no cheese. And their Frosty is a nice thing. That makes for a great treat, and I didn't eat more than a third of it, so my glucose didn't spike. I may return there!

This is the week in which we look forward to a visit from our life-long friends, the Barrs and Adams. We all met at DC, about 40-45 years ago. Our families became close and we spent all the holidays and birthdays together. After they moved on from DC, they continued to spend Christmas here for many, many years. In the past several years, our reunions have been less regular, but equally joyful. Even if I can't enjoy the feasting, it is going to be a glorious weekend.

  1. Ah, forget the mustard! I'm with Andy, *lots* of onions and ketchup, and you'll knock one or two out of the ball park!

Glad to hear your sense of taste is slowly returning! That in and of itself is a miracle Dick! Mine was gone for the good part of a year, but prednisone kept me eating (even though my fun as a foodie was greatly diminished) and energized.

I would suggest you spend this entire week napping and renewing yourself for the coming weekend! Maybe hold off on taking the prednisone until closer to the weekend, if you can. And be sure to get in lots of fluids! Proper hydration enhances your energy levels, and low levels of hydration can make you feel weak and fatigued.

Propel is on sale this week at Krogers and Meijers. Add a dash or two of sparkling water and a twist of lemon and/or lime, and you just might tantalize those tastebuds and get some fluids in your system!

Need another bottle or two of the Moscato d'Asti for the weekend as an incentive :-)

  3. It's pretty much all been said... hope you're able to rest and recoup for the coming weekend, and feel better while you're at it. Your descriptions of the hot dogs and frosties tantalize. Glad you sank your teeth into some high class dogs, at least.
Good to hear from you today -
    all best thoughts and wishes....

  4. My greetings to your guests. Also, next trip to Wendy's, I recommend the new frostycino, if your diet allows. Maybe skip the whipped cream. :)
