Tardy Update

Sorry, gentle readers. It has been several days. We have been really busy, stripping wallpaper at the condo bedroom. It was blue/grey/foil swirl. Sounds like a latte of some sort. If you have done this job, you know it is really awful. I tried to help as much as possible, perhaps too much, and have been completely exhausted by mid afternoon. But it is done now, and our dear friends, Bob and Marion, are back from a chilly three months in FL, so they will do the work in the kitchen, sparing us.

I have not had a very good week. Have to wonder how much of that is because I don't expect to have a good third week of the series. Just one more day of bullets to take, and then a week off. I have not had any appetite, no taste, and general fatigue. I did go to the last Bands, Bands, Bands! concert Thursday evening--but left at intermission. In a little while, we are going to the DCCB Cabaret Concert. I had hoped to play, but I just don't have the strength, and playing is starting to bother my stomach muscles, where I have a tumor that is growing near my navel.

To add insult to injury, this morning I rubbed my right eye and had a hemmorhage--a large one--that made most of my eye bloody. Since I am on blood thinners and have a depressed platelets count, we made a trip to the ER. Oncology is closed on Saturdays, so we couldn't use them. We were there for two hours waiting for the blood count (which was acceptable) and for a contact with my Oncologist for a recommendation on my daily blood thinner injection (it was skipped for one day). Though this is a harmless condition, it looks absolutely grisly. I am sure it will likely take weeks to clear completely. The adventure continues.

  1. Oh, I feel your pain of stripping wall paper. The last wall paper that I removed in our previous home was horrible! I took off about half of the wall board - even after wetting, soaking, etc. I didn't want to have the wall repaired so a sponging technique was used to help disquise the wounds. Turned out pretty good actually. I swore no more wall paper after that!

Prayers continue to be lifted on your behalf, Dick - Emily too. Glad you had your eye checked after the hemorrhage and that it wasn't determined to be serious. Such a balancing act to keep comfort and necessary treatment where they need to be. You have been doing a great job of monitoring and managing your health concerns. And throw in a move on top of that!

Rainy day. Family coming today for early Easter. Fresh rhubarb custard pie out of the oven this morning. Off to church to sing two services today - no Camel song though. ;)

  2. Hope that things are going better by now! You are way too ambitious with the whole wallpaper thing - let others help you out! Take care of yourself! Still praying daily for you! Hope that Holy Week is good for you!

  3. Stripping wallpaper is as bad, if not worse than hanging it. Either activity is a sure stressor. I'm glad you have reinforcements to do the kitchen. Please remember to get your rest and try not to overdo, especially since you have a good support network. I know that's hard, particularly for those of us accustomed to doing everything for ourselves---and for others.

Our good weather forecast is promising some warm temps and sunshine for Easter. John is on spring break and we're blowing winter's dust off. The front yard is springing up with color--spotted a few early tulips yesterday.

We're praying for you and Emily.
    Take care.
